Deborah in the news

We are always pleased to hear about what our ex-gymnasts are doing and we heard from Deborah Griffiths recently. Deborah was a gymnast some time ago at the club and a couple of years ago organised our very successful 30th Birthday celebrations at the gym and the evening party at the Britannia.

She now has won a place in the prestigious final of Ms Galaxy UK Beauty Pageant. This means that she will be competing in the grand final in March with women from all over the country.

The winner of Ms Galaxy UK will travel to the USA with contestants from all over the world, to compete in the Ms Galaxy International final, which is being held in the summer of 2019. The international final is a once in a lifetime opportunity and will be a truly amazing experience. The final is being held on Friday 8th March 2019 at the Best Western Park Hall Hotel, Lancashire and is set to be an exciting and glamorous event.

As a finalist she was encouraged to join in supporting The Christie NHS Foundation Trust and help fundraise for such a fantastic organisation. A title and award for ‘Miss Charity’ will be awarded in the competition and this will go to the finalists who raises the most funds for The Christie. Currently Galaxy UK as an organisation have raised over £240,000 for The Christie.

To raise money Deborah elected to do a Tandem Skydive on Saturday 16th February at Black Knights Parachute Centre. All of the funds raised will go towards The Christie’s new outpatients facility within the Proton Beam Therapy Centre. The jump was great fun as you can see from the picture.
